Caldey Island and Tenby
If you are looking for a peaceful and tranquil break that
provides a mixture of exploration and history (and shopping) then
Cadley Island and Tenby are definite stops for you.
Tenby town
The historical seaside town of Tenby has golden sand, crystal
clear water, safe beautiful beaches, and a good mixture of shops,
cafes, restaurants and pubs. From here you can hop onto a boat
to the majestic island of Caldey, inhabited by about twenty
Monks of the Reformed Cistercian Order.
Caldey Island
After disembarking on Priory beach, you can walk to the village
green which is overlooked by the Monastery. Here you can have a
coffee, and let the children play. There is no need to worry about
the traffic there are no cars on Caldey! The monastery is open to
the public but to men only. On the green you will find tea rooms, a
post office, and a small museum with the history of the island,
together with artifacts found around the island. There is a gift
shop and perhaps, better known, the perfumery where the famous
Caldey Island perfume can be purchased.
