More Environmental and Community Awards For Bluestone
It’s not just all-weather free range fun here at Bluestone, it’s a commitment to environmental sustainability.
We’ve been celebrating again here at Bluestone National Park Resort after winning two coveted UK awards for our environmental, community and sustainability work.
We take our environmental and community responsibilities very seriously as one of the largest private sector employers in Pembrokeshire and we’re pleased that the Business Commitment to the Environment Awards has named Bluestone as the winner of the Management for Resource Efficiency Premier Award 2012.
We’ve also been awarded the prestigious Community and Environmental Action Award by the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA) and last month we were re-accredited with our Big Tick by Business in the Community (BiTC) after winning the Community Action Award last year.
The BCE and BVCA awards have been presented to our founder and CEO, William McNamara, at gala events in London over the past week.
Founded by Sir Peter Parker in 1975, the BCE Awards scheme is one of the world’s longest running environmental competitions. “Bluestone’s commitment to sustainability has proved to be a key factor in its success. Foremost among the company’s environmental initiatives is its pioneering use of renewable, carbon neutral energy in the form of biomass,” said a BCE commendation.
Mr McNamara said: “We’re very pleased to have been awarded such a prestigious BCE Award. The environment is at the core of the business ethos at Bluestone National Park Resort.
“From the biomass unit that heats our Blue Lagoon waterpark and Adventure Centre, to solar technology on our luxury lodges, the planting of 35,000 native trees within our 500 acres of spectacular Pembrokeshire countryside, right the way through to supporting our staff with car sharing schemes and basics such as recycling. It is all vitally important and a continual commitment.”
Referring to the BVCA award, he added: “This is yet another endorsement of Bluestone’s commitment to being a responsible and sustainable business in Wales. From key environmental aspects within the physical structure and infrastructure of our business, to the sustainable approach we have in employing local people and using local suppliers – it’s all extremely important to us as a local Pembrokeshire business.”
Here at Bluestone National Park Resort we’re very much committed to responsible business practices, sustainability and the environment. Last night (Thursday, 16th June) we were rewarded with our efforts to date with a ‘Bick Tick’ award from Business in the Community (BITC) Wales during a ceremony in Cardiff.
At the Business in the Community 2010 awards held in Cardiff this week, Bluestone CEO William McNamara was presented with the Wales Environment Award.
Pembrokeshire’s Bluestone National Park Resort has scooped a top UK award and become an ‘Example of Excellence’ in the Business in the Community’s(BITC)annual responsible business awards, the 2011 Awards for Excellence.
