Queens Diamond Jubilee Best of British

Pembrokeshire’s Bluestone National Park Resort will be ensuring the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is the ‘Best of British’ as it prepares to light one of 4000 beacons that will illuminate the UK’s sky next month.

Traditional street party stalls, live music, a stilt walker, magician, and circus antics around the Blue Lagoon waterpark are just some of the antics planned on Bank Holiday, Monday, 4th June.

It comes just a few months after the resort began planting more than 35,000 trees at its 500-acre site to form one of just two Diamond Woods in Wales to celebrate the Jubilee festivities.

The resort is holding a ‘Best of British’ party at the entrance to the Blue Lagoon prior to the official Diamond Jubilee Beacon being lit, as well as a special party inside during the evening. A ‘Dragon’ parade is then planned from the waterpark to the Jubilee Beacon sited at the entrance to Bluestone.

“We’re hosting a party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee before the official beacon is lit close to the entrance to Bluestone and the Blue Lagoon,” said Yvonne Buckingham, Head of Marketing at Bluestone.

“We’re very proud of our association with the Diamond Jubilee as a result of being chosen as just one of two sites in Wales to plant a Diamond Wood for generations to come.

“And we’re just as proud to be part of the massive network of 4000 Jubilee Beacons that will be lit on the Bank Holiday Monday – it’s going to be a great occasion and a great vantage point to see the many beacons being lit across the region.”

The Blue Lagoon waterpark will start the ‘Best of British’ celebrations between 6 pm and 9.30 pm with music from throughout the years, including samba dancing, conga dancing, and inflatables.

The party will start at the entrance to Blue Lagoon with stalls, Matt the Magician, face painting, live music, and many more family activities from 4.30 pm until the beacon is lit between 10 pm and 10.30 pm.
