Bluestone Awarded 5 Star
Less than a year after welcoming its first guests, Bluestone has
become the
first and only holiday village in Wales to attain five-star
status.
A five-star grading means ‘exceptional, with a degree of
luxury’.
William McNamara, Chief Executive of Bluestone, said: “I am
delighted that we have attained five-star status. It’s a welcome
acknowledgement of the quality of our accommodation and facilities,
but I feel that, above all, it’s acknowledgement of how superbly
our staff have performed, sometimes in difficult circumstances.
“The determination of our staff to provide the highest standards
of customer service has been a constant theme in the feedback we
have received since opening. That determination is stronger now
than ever, and it will ensure that Bluestone will be what we always
wanted it to be – an icon for Wales.”
Because there has never been anything like Bluestone in Wales,
Visit Wales – the governmental body overseeing tourism in the
principality – developed a new grading category, based on criteria
used by the other assessing bodies (Visit England, Visit Scotland
and the AA).
The announcement that Bluestone had made the five-star grade was
made by Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones, when he visited
Bluestone during Wales Tourism Week.
The Minister, said: “This is a great way for Bluestone to start
the Easter season and I wish them every success for the future.
“Quality is key if tourism in Wales is going to weather the
current economic storm. We have seen time and again that people are
willing to pay and travel for quality, and as people’s purse
strings tighten they want to feel reassured that when they’re
booking a holiday they’re having the best quality possible for
their money.”
