May
Bluestone was conceived and developed as the ideal destination
for people with an affinity for the natural environment, but who
also expected the highest standards in accommodation, facilities
and overall short-break experience.
In fulfilment of those aims, we are proud to unveil the ‘Natural
Treasures’ break, a midweek break from May 11 to 15 designed as the
perfect way to immerse yourself in the natural and historical
riches for which Pembrokeshire is justly renowned.
After arriving at Bluestone on Monday, you are free to settle in
and acquaint yourself with Bluestone before activities begin the
following day, when you’ll be whisked over to Martins Haven - one
of the most picturesque spots on the entire Pembrokeshire
coastline, so don’t forget your camera.
After an optional picnic lunch, an experienced naturalist and a
coastal scientist will lead the group on a nature walk to Marloes
Sands; a beach that is quiet but superb even by Pembrokeshire’s
rarefied standards.
The walk will take in insects, birds, plants and the marine
environment, while exploration of the beach itself will give an
opportunity to discover the fascinating shoreline ecosystems, and
the plants and animals which live there.
Situated as it is within the renowned Pembrokeshire Coast
National Park, Bluestone has its own treasures for the budding
botanist or natural history enthusiast to discover. The Natural
Treasures break will feature walks led by our own historian Terry
John, who will impart his encyclopaedic knowledge of the Bluestone
site and how it has been shaped by history, with his inimitable
enthusiasm and sense of fun.
The break will also feature a third walk, focusing on flora and
fauna. This walk will start at Garron, near Lawrenny. It will
continue around the shimmering waters of Garron Pill and through
the oak woodland, taking in views of the Daugleddau Estuary and
Benton castle, before finishing at Lawrenny Quay.
As well as giving a greater understanding of the natural world,
the Natural Treasures break will also encompass the usual pleasures
of a stay at Bluestone. Accommodation will be in our superb
Caldey lodges, or for those who prefer a
taste of village life, studio apartments
and one and two bedroom cottages are
available.
There’ll also be cheese and wine tasting on the Monday night, a
Taste of Pembrokeshire supper on the Thursday night (at which
there will also be prizes awarded for the best photograph taken
during the week), and free single entry for every adult in the
party to Bluestone’s lavish holistic spa, The
Well.
The Natural Treasures break is a limited offer and costs
from £60 per person per night. Book now by calling our reservations
