10 Places to Picnic in Pembrokeshire

With so many upcoming picnics to arrange, it’s time to get planning!

In case you need a helping hand, here’s a list of “10 Places to Picnic in Pembrokeshire”.

1) Barafundle Bay

Not shy of a picnic-related competition, Barafundle Bay was dubbed “the best place in the UK for a picnic” by Country Life magazine in 2006!


2) Bosherston Lily Ponds

An area of exquisite natural beauty, there are breathtaking views around every corner. You certainly won’t struggle to find an idyllic setting to lay down your picnic blanket and absorb the tranquil atmosphere.


3) Castle Hill, Tenby

This convenient little spot is located just off the town centre of Tenby. Home to the Prince Albert memorial statue, this steep hill offers panoramic views of the surrounding beaches and will keep your sandwiches safe from the sand!


4) Priory Bay, Caldey Island

12 Miles - plus a boat ride! from Bluestone

A picnic here will certainly make for an exciting day out. To reach Priory Bay, you must first take a boat trip to Caldey Island! When you’ve finished exploring the delights of Caldey, you can settle down with your picnic and watch the boats come and go from the neighbouring shores of Tenby.  


5) St Brides Haven Beach

This sheltered, rocky cove is extremely popular with divers. Once you’ve finished your picnic, there are plenty of rock pools for you to head off and explore! 


6) Broad Haven South Beach

A stunning beach that is framed by hills and greenery; Broad Haven South is easily accessible by car or via a relaxing walk from Bosherston Lily Ponds.


7) Druidston Haven Beach

Accessible from the coastal path, this long and sandy beach is enclosed by cliffs and the perfect setting for a more secluded and private picnic.


8) Carew Castle

If beaches aren’t your thing, why not try the surrounding areas of Carew Castle? There are amble spots for picnicking that serve up stunning views of this historical landmark.


9) St David’s Cathedral

The perfect setting for a peaceful and relaxing picnic. It’s free to enter the grounds and possible to look inside the cathedral once you’ve finished admiring it from afar.


10) The Bluestone Resort!
