With its award winning beaches, Pembrokeshire is the ideal location to spend a fun-filled family holiday. While most mums and dads are happy to sit back and relax, their little ones may have other ideas about what a ‘Beach Day’ entails!

To ensure that everyone stays happy this summer, we have put together a list of beachside games that are sure to keep the whole family entertained.

1. Sand Sculptures

OK, we promise this list gets more adventurous but how could this not come first?! From sand castles to animals, to boats and people, the creative possibilities are endless. They do say that the old ones are the best!

2. Water Relay

What can beat a bit of friendly competition? In this game players must run back and forth collecting sea water using a hollow item and depositing it into a bucket on the beach. The first to fill their bucket, wins!

3. Beach Limbo

With the soft sand providing a safe surface to land on, there’s no excuse for even the most unbalanced of beach-goers. True, you may struggle to fit a full-sized limbo stick in your beach bag but you can always use a rope or a pool noodle instead!

4. Beach Hopscotch

Taking inspiration from the school playground, the beach is the perfect place for a fun game of hopscotch. You can leave the chalk in school as the wet sand acts as the perfect canvas for creating your sandy playground!

5. Beach Bowling

We all know that on a hot day, it’s important to stay hydrated but did you know that all of your empty water bottles can be turned into an exciting game of bowling? Empty plastic bottles transform into the perfect beach bowling pins. All you need now is a ball!

6. Tug of War

It’s time to choose your team! Will it be girls against boys, children against adults or family against family? This traditional test of strength is fantastic fun, especially for your most competitive family members.

7. Let’s Go Fly a Kite

Nothing says “summer afternoon” like a spot of kite flying! If you’re looking for a relaxing activity that involves minimal effort, this is the one of you. The gentle Pembrokeshire breeze will do most of the work leaving you to gaze up enjoy the view.

Now that you’re fully equipped with a list of beachside activities, it’s time to plan your trip but be quick! There’s just 4 weeks of the summer holidays left.
