Bluestone Team Take On The Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon!

By Kathryn Slade Triathlon Swimmers

On Saturday June 25th two teams from Bluestone took on the Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon, held in Broad Haven.

The challenging course covers a 1500 metre open water swim, a 43k bike ride and a 10.6k run. The course is designed to be challenging but enjoyable and there is always stunning scenery to enjoy! Bluestone’s two teams took part in the relay event and after taking the title last year they were ready to take on the challenge again.

This year’s teams included a mix of staff from different departments around the resort from Lifeguards to Accountants!

Triathlon Cyclist
The Bluestone Buoys team saw Mike Slack (Compliance and Facilities Leisure Manager) fly through the swim in 22 minutes giving James McNamara (Head of Leisure) a great start on the bike leg which he finished an hour and 20 minutes.

Then it was over to Liam Bradley (Blue Lagoon Lifeguard) to complete the relay with a great run crossing the line with a total team time of 2 hours and 23 minutes. It was less than a minute behind the 1st place relay team and in 5th overall position. Well done Buoys!

Triathlon runner
Coming home as the 9th place relay team were the Bluestone Unwanted group! Tomos Dugmore another Blue Lagoon Lifeguard took on the swim in 29 minutes, before Finance Director Neil Evans took to the bike course completing it in an hour and 36 minutes. Then it was over to Giles McNamara (Management Accountant) for the run which he completed in 49 minutes – a new personal best!

The teams were fantastic and represented Bluestone as true ambassadors during the event...who’s up for next year?
