Bluestone Is Awarded 5 Star Status By Visit Wales

On Wednesday this week, the Minister of Heritage for the Welsh Assembly Government, Alun Ffred Jones, formally announced thaBluestone had become the first and only holiday village in Wales to be awarded a five-star grading.

Security Manager Glenn Hewer puts up our lovely new sign
This grading – which denotes facilities and an overall experience that are ‘exceptional, with a degree of luxury’ – represents a significant milestone for us, and I think, no mean achievement.

Bluestone is a new business. Though the project has been over a decade in gestation, we only welcomed our first guests last July. I don’t think it’s any great secret that for a variety of reasons, the opening period did not go as smoothly as we would have liked.

It was, in fact, a difficult, challenging period that won’t be forgotten in a hurry.

So when Steve and Glenn fixed that ‘Five Star’ plaque to the Arrivals Lodge wall, it felt good. It felt like long-awaited acknowledgement, not only of the standard of our accommodation and facilities, but of the huge effort we’ve all made to make Bluestone much, much closer to what we all wanted it to be.

There will of course, be no relaxing on our hard-earned laurels. There will always be room for improvement. But now, when we look at our ‘To Do’ list, next to where it says ‘attain five-star status,’ there’s a lovely big tick.
