Bluestone Spartans

A few weeks ago, a team of six employees from the Bluestone's Waterpark The Blue Lagoon took part in the Reebok Spartan Race in Cambridge and raised over £1500 in sponsorship money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event, which took place in September, saw Blue Lagoon’s Ian Darbyshire, Ryan Goldsworthy, Ceri Davies, Glenn Miller, Gethin Steadman and Dale Etchells join approximately 6,000 other athletes to take on a series of challenging obstacles in the gruelling 5km race.

The group made their way through fire, mud, water, barbed wire and more to earn their medals and each successfully completed the race with competitive times.

Despite the challenge the guys seemed to have a great time getting mucky for Macmillan. Ian Darbyshire, Duty Manager at Blue Lagoon, says: “Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity close to all of our hearts, so we were thrilled to learn we had raised so much in sponsorship. We had a fantastic time on the day of the race. It was tough and there were plenty of cuts and bruises, but we enjoyed the challenge and intend to take part in three further Spartan races next year.”
