Bwbach Treacle Toffee

Our Bwbach Festival is now in full swing and we’d love for you to join in the fun! If you’re not with us on resort, you can still trick or “treat” yourself to a taste of Bwbach with our delicious treacle toffee recipe.

Here’s what you’ll need: 

  • A heavy based pan
  • A shallow tin
  • A sugar thermometer
  • Kitchen scales
  • A jug

Ingredients

  • 500g Granulated sugar
  • 100g Black treacle 
  • 100g Golden Syrup 
  • 75g Butter
  • ¼ tsp cream of tartar
  • 150ml Water

Method

  1. Lightly butter the tin and then put it to one side for later. 
  2. Add the sugar and water to the pan and heat gently until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring it to the boil.  
  4. Use the sugar thermometer to measure the temperature of the ingredients. As soon as the temperature reaches 143 °C, remove the pan from the hob. 
  5. Pour the contents of the pan into the tin.
  6. Allow to cool for 5 minutes and score into squares.
  7. Leave in a cool place to set.
  8. Enjoy your Bwbach Treacle Toffee!
