Counting the days to the Bluestone Summer Festival 2018

By Kathryn Slade Lakeside Fun
Whether your summertime break involves waking up to sunshine and birdsong, taking the little ones for a swim at the Blue Lagoon or walking the nature trail to Camp Smokey, you’re in for a fantastic time at the Bluestone Summer Festival!

This summer you’ll enjoy a new range of themed activities, new menus for our restaurants and lots more, all helping build ever lasting memories with your family and friends throughout the warmer months.

Our Summer Festival starts on June 29th this year and runs through to September 3rd! You and your little ones will have many different and exciting workshops to choose from to fill your days with fun. These will range from creating musical instruments to decorating your own parade masks, all using branches, leaves and other very natural materials for your free range creations.

Willow Kite Workshop

Using special willow weaving techniques, beautiful coloured leaves and craft materials, you’ll create a unique kite to fly with the group and at our Green Man Parade.

Green Man Mask

Craft, create and transform into the Green Man or your favourite animal using natural materials scavenged and collected by yourselves. Enjoy the Ceilidh tradition of our Bluestone bear dance in your masks to get you into the Summer Festival mood.

Green Man Enchanted Workshop

Let your imagination soar as you craft your very own magical little Green Man Garden in this Enchanted Workshop. Grab your wooden base and using a blend of natural materials such as clay, sticks, stones, moss, leaves, pine cones and other wonders of the forest. Unleash the magic; create your own enchanted little world of the Green Man.

Green Man Dinner Show and Parade

Our Green Man dinner show is sure to have the whole family singing, dancing and clapping along as you join Ash the Forest Ranger and Leaf in their exciting adventure to save the Green Man from the mischievous forest nymph, Element. The show includes a mighty feast for the family to ensure you leave well fed and well entertained!

After the Green Man dinner show on Thursday and Sunday evenings everyone is welcome and encouraged to join our Green Man parade. Whether it’s your Woody Wild mask, a jingle stick or your very own leaf banner, bring along all you have made during your stay and be part of the fun. Our drummers will lead the march to the Village accompanied by our 11 foot tall Green Man!
