The five seasons of Bluestone explained

Bluestone lodges

We know much of the world carries on quite happily with four seasons in a year.

But life at Bluestone is a little bit different (in a good way of course). That’s why we’ve got five seasons, one more than everyone else!

Our first season is called Winter Lights, then Myths and Legends before we celebrate our Summer Festival. After that, it’s time for the Bwbach Festival before finishing the year with Christmasland.

With each season, life at the Bluestone changes - you’ll notice the resort transform and exciting new activities squeeze into our unique calendar.

Wondering what to expect when you arrive for your Bluestone break? Fear not, all is explained below.

Winter Lights

Winter Lights at Bluestone

When is it?

The glow of our lights spectacular warms up the chilly months from January 7th to March 28th.

What can I expect?

Be dazzled by our winter illuminations as the beauty of our Enchanted Trail through Bluestone’s ancient forest forms the centrepiece of the Winter Lights season.

Journey through trees decorated with a magical glow from our fantastical lights show Illume, with no end of spectacle on the interactive woodland path. Expect to see wandering wizards, glowing snake goddesses and the fascinating Pixie village.

What activities are on offer?

As well as our interactive Illume adventure, there are three Winter Lights workshops available including Winter Lantern making, Glow Mask making and creating your very own Dream Light in our Enchanted Workshop.

The Merlin Light Show takes place in the Village every evening after dusk and you can also join the wily wizard for the Merlin Dinner Show. At the end of your break bring your workshop creations to the Winter Lights festival as an 11ft Merlin leads a parade from the Adventure Centre to the Village for a night of fun, games and surprises.

Bwbach Festival

The Bwbach Parade

When is it?

Bwbach begins right after the Summer Festival on September 2nd, finishing on November 3rd.

What can I expect?

As the leaves change in Bluestone’s ancient forest the resort takes on a mystical quality as it transforms into our Bwbach season. A large troupe of friendly scarecrows will be dotted around for you to discover along with lots of bewitching surprises.

Expect ghoulish goings-ons as we get closer to Halloween and our annual Spooktacular, when the Adventure Centre transforms into a terrifying after dark adventure!

There’s the unmissable (not so scary) Scarecrow Dinner Show where you’ll enjoy the harvest and enjoy a heart-warming journey with the lonely scarecrow. The Bwbach Festival culminates with the stunning Lighting of the Bwbach on the Lake, together with fireworks and a festival atmosphere.

What activities are on offer?

Create your own Bwbach masterpieces with our craft workshops using traditional countryside methods to make Corn Dolls to play with, Pumpkins Racers to zoom about in, Bwbach Baskets and Pumpkins Lanterns.

Bring them along to the Pumpkin Parade every Thursday and Sunday when a giant scarecrow leads a song and dance to the Village, where the Bwbach Festival gets into the swing of things with sing-a-longs, games and pop-up surprises.

Christmasland at Bluestone

When is it?

Starting on November 4th, Christmasland runs until January 5th, 2020.

What can I expect?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The resort turns into a winter wonderland for its final season, with much merry-making led by Bluestone’s lovable, mischievous elves and Santa Claus himself.

The highlight of the season is the annual Kingdom of the Elves experience, where you’ll journey to Elftopia for a jolly adventure full of festive cheer.

What activities are on offer?

This year’s Kingdom of the Elves is led by Inspector Sprinkles of the ELF.B.I as you enjoy an interactive mystery solving the riddle of which troublesome prankster stole Christmas. Tickets to this epic adventure are included in all breaks booked during Christmasland.

The Little Mermaid will be taking centre stage in our Panto for a classic tale with a twist as we dive into a magical ocean journey under the waves.

Make sure you stop by our Advent Calendar Mornings in the Village for some fun with our elves and book into Santa’s Workshop to help the toy makers with this year’s presents. Plus you can get some special one-on-one time with Santa himself to make sure you’re on the Nice list (and you might just walk away with a present).

There are also creative and crafty Christmasland workshops to enjoy including the Enchanted Workshop: Christmas Kitchen and the Christmas Wreath Willow Workshop. Every evening guests are also invited to the nightly Ceremony of Lights in the Village when we turn on the Christmas lights and sing carols around the tree - giving you a glow on the inside and out!
