Free Range Fun at Chelsea Flower Show

Kids Camp 620

On launching her family friendly garden at Chelsea Flower Show, Catherine- Duchess of Cambridge- spoke to the press about the importance of family time in the great outdoors.

“80% of our adult brains develop before the age of 5 and what a child experiences in those really early years directly affects how the brain develops, and that’s why I think it’s so important that whether we’re parents, carers or family members, we really engage in quality time with children and babies from a really young age.

I really feel that nature and being interactive outdoors has huge benefits on our physical and mental wellbeing, particularly for young kiddies. This is a natural, creative place for them to play. I really hope that this woodland that we have created here really inspires families, kids and communities to get outside, enjoy nature and the outdoors, and spend quality time together” – the Duchess said.

As Bluestone is the home of Free Range Fun, we can’t help agreeing with Kate. Her inspired garden design and free range family ethos has many similarities to our Free Range Manifesto.

At Bluestone we believe that children need a place to connect with nature, play with their loved ones, and fill their days with Free Range Fun. It’s about counting bugs and newts instead of computer game scores, and finding adventure whatever the weather!

We believe that the most valuable gift you can give your child is memories. Whether that’s jumping in waves with their siblings, feeding the ducks with their cousins, or getting a bedtime story from Nan and Grandad after an action packed day of Free Range Fun.

As grownups we have a huge influence on children, so why not show them your fun side and encourage theirs too? Bring your wellies and jump in the puddles together, roll down the grass banks and show them how nature’s playground is the best of all!

If you’ve been inspired by the message behind Kate’s Chelsea Flower Show garden, then why not try the Free Range lifestyle for yourself. Enjoy creating memories with your family in 500 acres of rolling Pembrokeshire countryside at our National Park Resort.
