Joel Pradas

Joel Pradas

Originally from Spain, Joel studied contemporary dance at the Institut del Teatre, Conservatory of Dance, in Barcelona (2010-2016), before performing as a member of the Postgraduate Company VERVE at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (2016-2017). He graduated with an MA in Contemporary Dance in 2017.

His previous credits include Leviathon (Autumn Tour, 2017), various shows at the Edinburgh Festival and on tour with VERVE (2017), and Momentum (2015).

Joel joined Motionhouse in 2018 to perform in BLOCK.

Aaron Watkinson

Originally from Bloxwich, Aaron was first introduced to contemporary dance while studying at Walsall College. He joined ACE Youth Dance Company and performed at the Birmingham Hippodrome, Udance, Laban platforms as well as touring internationally with the company.

Aaron graduated from The Northern School of Contemporary Dance in July 2015 after completing a three-year degree. In August 2015 he began an apprenticeship with Motionhouse.

In September 2016 Aaron joined the company as leader of the community programme and as a dancer.

During his time with Motionhouse so far he has performed in extracts from Broken, Captive, Charge, Fragile, Knot, Lumen, Midwinter Magic and WILD.

Charlotte Hannah


Charlotte started training at a young age in gymnastics before delving into contemporary dance. She first performed at Sadlers Wells and The Royal Festival Hall as part of U. DANCE and Youth Dance England. Charlotte continued training at The University of Chichester where she gained a BA (Hons) in Dance and also took part in an exchange to York University, Canada.

She was a member of 3Fall Dance Company 2015, touring theatres nationally with works by Detta Howe, Stuart Waters and Ceyda Tanc. In 2016 she joined Dillon Dance and performed at Resolution Dance Festival, London. As a member of JV2 in 2018, Charlotte worked on developing her technique alongside building theatrical skills.

In-between projects Charlotte has choreographed and performed in music videos and has interests in community dance, acrobatics and travelling.

Charlotte joined Motionhouse in February 2019. She has since performed in Captive, BLOCK and Charge.

Shannon Kate Platt


Originally from Wigan, Shannon started dancing at the age of 6 years old. At the age of 14 she became part of the CAT scheme at the Lowry in Manchester, where she trained in Ballet and Contemporary.

Shannon started her full time dance training at Centre Pointe Vocational College achieving ISTD teaching qualifications and also gained a huge variety of performance experience. Shannon graduated from Centre Pointe in July 2016 and was awarded a place at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, some of her highlights included working with Mark Baldwin, Kim Brandstrup and Jason Mabana, whilst also performing Linear Remains choreographed by Rafael Bonachelor restaged by Paul Liburd.

Shannon joined Motionhouse in February 2019. She has since performed in Captive, Charge and WILD.

Stefania Catarinella


Stefania studied dance professionally in Italy (Proficiency Diploma in Contemporary Dance at Opus Ballet International Center of Choreography 2012-2014) and Malta (BA Hons degree in Dance Studies at the University of Malta 2014-2016). Since then, she has been working as a freelancer collaborating with international artists.

In 2017 she joined two dance companies on a full time basis, AlphaZTL Compagnia d’Arte Dinamica and ResExtensa Dance Company as a dancer and aerial artist.

Since 2016 Stefania is also Artistic Coordinator for Junior Dance Company Bari, for which she is also a former dancer. She is also Guest Rehearsal Director with Junior Dance Company Malta. 

In September 2019 Stefania joined Motionhouse as Artist in Development.

Bryn Aled


Originally from North Wales, Bryn began performing with his local theatre group TiC at the age of 3, and in later years worked with the National Youth Dance Wales.

Bryn went onto train at Manchester Metropolitan University, graduating with a 1st Class BA (Hons) Dance, receiving the Ade and Ravenscroft Award and the Manchester Metropolitan Award for Excellence. He then completed a Masters Degree in Dance Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, touring internationally with Transitions Dance Company, receiving a Laban Award and graduating with a Distinction.

Bryn has toured nationally and internationally working with Channel 5, Rosie Kay Dance Company, WILD Rumpus, and Company AV.

Originally joining Motionhouse as an artist in training in 2017, Bryn has performed in Charge and BLOCK, joining as a full time company member in 2019.

Chris Knight


Chris, originally from Hereford, began performing with 2Faced Dance. He completed the Foundation Course at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, and graduated with a BA (Hons) degree from London Contemporary Dance School in 2012.

Prior to joining Motionhouse, he worked in the UK and abroad on productions for Protein Dance, 2Faced Dance, Hélène Blackburn, Company Decalage, Balletto Civile, Matthias Kass, Maura Morales, Shumpei Nemoto, Robin Dingemans and Sweetshop Revolution.

Chris joined Motionhouse in 2014 for their USA tour of Scattered. He has since performed in BLOCK, Captive, Charge, Lumen, Underground, Midwinter Magic, Watermusic and WILD.

Beth Pattison


Beth joined Motionhouse in September 2017 as an apprentice through Northern School of Contemporary Dance, becoming a full company member in March 2018.

Following completion of the Dance City Centre for Advanced Training programme (2008-2014), Beth trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (BA Hons Contemporary Dance, 2014-2017). Before joining Motionhouse, she undertook a residency at balletLORENT.

Her performance experience includes: movement-image – BA3 Commissioned Works, Bonnie Bird Theatre (2017); ACT|BALANCE – Collaboration with Tuli Litvak, Central Saint Martins (2017); Tracing Gestures: Stephanie Schober – BA3 Commissioned Works, Bonnie Bird Theatre (2016); everyBODY, Selfridges London – choreographed by Maxine Doyle and commissioned by Wayne McGregor (2016), and Rude Health Festival, Trinity College (2015).

Since joining Motionhouse, Beth has performed in Captive, Charge, Lost, Lumen, Midwinter Magic and WILD.

Berta Contijoch


Originally from Barcelona, Spain, Berta studied contemporary dance at the Institut del Teatre, Conservatory of Dance (2010-2016), before performing as a member of the Postgraduate Company VERVE at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (2016-2017). She graduated with an MA in Contemporary Dance in 2017. Afterwards she joined Motionhouse as an artist in training for 6 months.

Berta has performed and toured with choreographers and companies including Southpaw Dance Company directed by Robby Graham, performing Carousel and Erimus; and the last site specific creation by the artistic director Hansel Cereza, choreographer of Cirque du Soleil’s “Love”.

As well as performing, Berta has been teaching and training other disciplines including Hand to Hand (circus discipline) among others.

Berta joined Motionhouse in February 2019. She has since performed in Charge, Lost, Gravity and WILD.

Sophie Page


Sophie discovered her love of dance working at Julia’s Dance Studio, Instep Dance Company and The Centre for Advanced Training at The Place.

During her professional training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, she developed a particular interest in the practice of somatics and improvisation. Sophie has worked with Hagit Yakira, Struan Leslie, Heidi Rustgaard and Lizzie Kew-Ross.

After graduating in 2019 with a First Class degree from Laban she is now working with Motionhouse as an apprentice dancer as part of her Masters Degree with Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

Elly Welford


Elly started training in Gymnastics from a young age. She became interested in contemporary dance when studying at Chichester college and joined Ceyda Tanc Youth Company (2016) in Brighton. Elly then moved to Leeds to study at the Northern School of Contemporary dance where she completed her degree and graduated in 2019.

Whilst studying at NSCD, Elly became a company member of ‘Northern Rascals’, a Yorkshire based dance company. She performed ‘Sunny Side’ (2019) at Welland Festival and continues to be involved with the company.
In her final year of Northern, Elly found a passion for dance photography. Since then she has created a part time business as a dance photographer.

Elly is now working with Motionhouse as an apprentice dancer as part of her Masters Degree with Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
