Pembrokeshire Coast Path Dale to Marloes

By Yvonne Buckingham Pembrokeshire Cliff View

In the autumn of 2016, Bluestone’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Yvonne Buckingham set herself the challenge of walking the entire length of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path with a group of friends.

Yvonne has been documenting their adventure for the Bluestone blog and has so far walked from Amroth to Dale. We caught up with Yvonne to find out about the latest part of her adventure!

‘Well, here we are! After a long summer break it was time to get those walking boots laced up and moving. This part of our journey started from the beautiful village of Dale ending at Marloes; off we went towards the headland to Dale Fort occasionally glancing back to view the coastal path behind us, reminding us of what we already had achieved on this 186 mile challenge.

The footpath was winding and steep in places which was challenging at times, however with views of amazing rock formations; beautiful secluded beaches and intriguing wildlife this kept us going and just curious for more. We headed towards St Anne's Head lighthouse and then onto West Dale beach, where it was time for some refueling from our back packs.

We set off across the coastal path cliffs and like a mirage we could see Marloes beach in the distance which was just stunning. As we walked we spied Gateholm Island in the distance as we approached Deer Park. We had a lovely surprise, as there were quite a few seal pups sunbathing on the rocks below, whilst their mum swam in the glistening clear Pembrokeshire waters.

We concluded our walk with a refreshing drink at the ‘Lobster Pot’ before returning to Dale for an amazing seafood supper in ‘The Griffin Inn’ which was delicious with exceptional service; a rewarding end to a very enjoyable day.’

Bluestone National Park Resort is situated in the heart of Pembrokeshire, so it makes an ideal base for exploring the whole of the county. From the rugged hills and moorlands in the north, to the picturesque seaside towns in the south, there is something for everyone!
