Pembrokeshire County Show 2015

By Kathryn Slade Pembs Show

Next week sees the start of the annual Pembrokeshire County Show held in Haverfordwest. The event lasts for 3 days and celebrates the agricultural traditions that Pembrokeshire is proud of. The Agricultural show was founded on January 1st 1784 and is the highlight of year for many of Pembrokeshire’s residents.

The Pembrokeshire County Show is Wales' largest, attracting over 90,000 visitors over the 3 days that it is on. For those interested in animals and agriculture there is everything you could wish for! Why not watch the horses and cattle being shown in the rings. Or you could watch the dog show and dog agility performances!

There are over 400 trade stands, a great food hall with cooking demonstrations and lots of samples to taste. There are plenty of activities for children to enjoy and a free family play area so it makes a great day out! If it has been raining then wellies are advisable as the show ground can get a little bit mucky but there will be some great puddle jumping opportunities and it takes a lot to dampen a Pembrokeshire Party.

Getting around during show week can be a little bit busy on the roads but there will be a shuttle bus from Haverfordwest Bus Station. Parking is ample and free and is well signposted on the way to the showground.

Here are some of the things that are going on over the 3 days!

Fish Week 2014 is packed with new events

Listed as the UK’s No1 Food Festival 2013 by The Independent, Pembrokeshire Fish Week is taking place between the 28th June and 6th July.

Evening Racing at Ffos Las Racecourse

Today, we are pleased to hand the blog reins over to Cherry Stratford, PA to the directors. Cherry, it turns out, has previous experience handling reins of a more conventional kind.
On June 1st, I took my gambling luck in my hands and attended the evening race meeting at Ffos Las with nine friends.
