Pembrokeshire scoops 39 awards at the 2019 Wales Coast Awards

The beautiful Pembrokeshire beaches have again been honoured at the 2019 Wales Coast Award.

Amroth, NewgaleSaundersfoot, Dale, Whitesands, Coppet HallTenby North, Tenby South, Tenby Castle, Poppit Sands and Lydstep have all retained their Blue Flag status.

The iconic Blue Flag award is recognised worldwide, and is given for water quality, environmental awareness, protection, safety and services.

The Blue Flag was first flown at a Pembrokeshire beach in 1990, and since then it has been awarded over 220 times.

Seven beaches picked up the Seaside Award, which is the national standard for the best beaches across the UK. So the following are a must visit during your Bluestone break, Broad Haven (north), Cwm yr Eglwys, Goodwick, Little Haven, Newport, Nolton Haven and Wisemans Bridge.

The following five beaches picked up Green Coast awards, Caerfai, Druidstone, Priory Bay on Caldey Island, West Angle Bay and West Dale. This award celebrates those special gems along the coast, with excellent water quality and an unspoiled environment.

Most impressively eight beaches completed the ‘double’, winning both the Seaside and Green Coast awards. They were:

Abereiddy, Barafundle, Broadhaven (south), Freshwater East, Manorbier, Marloes, Martins Haven and Penally.
