Vote for Bluestone in the British Travel Awards

Bluestone is delighted to announce we have been nominated in the highly prestigious British Travel Awards 2018 - which recognise the very best in the travel industry.

It’s the second year in a row we’ve been nominated in the Best UK Family Holiday/Holiday Park Operator category, pitting our beloved Pembrokeshire resort against the very best in Britain.

The winner will be decided by the number of votes cast by the general public - so if you love Bluestone and think we deserve to win then please vote below - we'd love your vote!

We regard these awards to be such an important barometer of our success because they are decided by you - our guests. They are totally independent and considered the benchmark of excellence in the travel industry. You have until September 30 to cast your vote.

It would be a wonderful way to celebrate our 10th anniversary - capping off a marvellous decade which has seen the Bluestone experience grow and develop into what we believe to be the UK’s most unique eco-resort. We’re a family-run business committed to giving families the best possible environment to relax in and unplug from the stresses of modern life.

If you need a reason to be convinced of why you should vote for us, here’s a few that we think show why we’ve work so hard to win best UK Family Holiday Operator 2018.

We're doing more to help children learn and develop in nature

We help your children develop while having fun

This year alone we’ve introduced so many new activities and experiences at Bluestone. We’re particularly proud of our new Ranger HQ, which opened by the lake in the spring. The hut is where we base all of our Ranger activities - which are all about making sure children and parents experience nature to its fullest.

It’s full of expedition maps for their adventures into the forest, plus heaps of wildlife information that inspire us to learn and play in nature at the same time. We’re firm believers in using the natural environment to fuel children’s imagination and help them learn at the same time - instead of force feeding it through devices and screens. They discover that the outdoors is both a classroom and a playground.

We’re constantly investing

How SkyDome could look at Bluestone

The opening of Ranger HQ was one of our highlights, but so much has been popping up on resort. Our list of activities seems to grow by the day - from paddle boarding and axe throwing to new spa treatments and our wonderful improved Winter Lights tour.

That’s without the £7million we’ve committed to our new SkyDome facility - a huge interactive dome that will truly bring the outdoors indoors, so you can enjoy the best of Bluestone whatever the weather. Work has begun in earnest ahead of the opening next summer.

As well as all of this, we’ve also revealed plans for a second resort on the beautiful coast of Holy Island in Ynys Môn - life never stops at Bluestone, it constantly evolves in the never-ending search for the perfect formula for our guests.

We’re committed to Pembrokeshire and Wales

The view at Milford Haven

We don’t underestimate how lucky we are to have the UK’s only Coastal National Park on our doorstep. Whether it’s a day out in Tenby, a trip to Barafundle Bay on a sunny day or a coasteering adventure - our guests know a visit to Bluestone means being able to enjoy some of the most spectacular coastal experiences in the world.

So we’re committed to making sure Bluestone is a sustainable part of the Pembrokeshire community. Since our opening in 2008 we have spent more than £60 million with local suppliers and we wholly committed to sourcing the supplies we need locally whenever possible. Our Bluestone Foundation has also donated more than £21,000 to local community groups over the past 10 years. That Foundation is supported by donations made by our valued guests - so a huge thank you for your support.

We help families bond

We strive to be the most loved and unique family holiday destination, where everything we do is driven by the desire to make our guests feel valued and special. Not only do we aim to make Bluestone a haven to relax and unwind, we’ve also created a host of activities to draw the family together, stimulating the senses and reconnecting them, both to each other and to the stunning natural environment which surrounds us here in Britain’s only coastal National Park.

Bluestone is about those special experiences that make you realise what it is to be alive with the ones you love. Staring up at dark skies while toasting a marshmallow in the middle of the woods - we give you the space to share quality time with each other.

We’re striving to nurture our environment

Bees at work in Bluestone

In the last 12 months we hired a new environmental team led by our first Sustainability Ranger, to help improve the biodiversity of our 500 acres of ancient woodland and add to our guests’ experience. This has included carefully preserving and enhancing the flora and fauna, while maintaining its natural beauty.

We feel a great responsibility to our natural environment and know it is one of the big reasons so many people want to visit us. Earlier this year we introduced bee hives (don’t worry - it’s very safe!) to the resort and worked with Keep Wales Tidy to create new hedgerows to help bats find their way around Bluestone.

We love our staff so they love you

Bluestone staff win the Wellbeing at Work award

Just a few weeks ago we were handed the 2018 Wellbeing at Work Award at the annual Responsible Business Awards for Wales - recognising the commitment we have made to looking after our staff.

We firmly believe a happy staff will mean a happy resort and their welfare and wellbeing is of the utmost importance. So we introduced a wide range of support - from exercise classes and nutritional guidance, to mindfulness and mental health support.

Our philosophy is that the only way we will create exceptional holidays is to have a happy, motivated and engaged team working for our guests. We genuinely care for their physical and mental wellbeing - and their happiness.

As a thank you to our committed staff, more than 30% of the business is owned by our employees. The Employee Benefit Trust rewards staff for their incredible loyalty and commitment and ensure they have a new opportunity to be recognised for the outstanding job they do for our guests.

Could it be us?

If you chose to vote for us, we could be declared the winners of our category at the British Travel Awards 2018 gala dinner, held in London on November 28.

BTA chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “The British Travel Awards give you the opportunity to reward travel and tourism enterprises for outstanding performance in service delivery and product offering. Voting in the 2018 Awards is now open and nominated companies have until September 30 to lobby their happy customers for votes – good luck to Bluestone.”

The British Travel Awards are considered the benchmark for excellence when it comes to finding out who really is the best in the travel industry. The British Travel Awards is a proudly independent organisation, verified by leading global business practitioners, Deloitte.
