Pack all this into a family weekend break

Tree climbing

The best family holidays are packed with memories and a weekend break at Bluestone gives you plenty of time to experience unforgettable magical moments together.

This summer make the most of your family getaway by fitting in a little bit of everything Pembrokeshire and West Wales has to offer - days spent by the seaside, eating together in the open air and enjoying our fabulous selection of activities.

And there's no reason you can't spare some time for mum and dad to relax at our spa as well!

Here’s a few things to pack into your weekend break at Bluestone this summer. Arriving on the Friday and leaving on the Monday means you have the best part of three days and three nights to sample the best the resort and the surrounding area has to offer.

Explore the beach

An essential ingredient for every summer holiday - the beach. And luckily for you, our beaches are among the best in the world.

Just down the road from Bluestone you’ll find the picture postcard town of Tenby - it’s only a 20-minute drive or so.

Tenby south beach

Here you’ve got your pick of the town’s busy Harbour and Castle beaches plus the quieter golden sands of the beautiful North and South beach. It’s a Mecca for sandcastle building, splashing in the gentle waves and trying the beach activities.

Tenby has three Blue Flags and plenty of facilities and places to eat and drink - plus an excellent lifeguard service. There’s not just the beach as well - wander Tenby’s little streets filled with shops and pubs, marvel at the town’s ancient stone walls, scoff an ice cream or take a boat trip to Caldley Island.

Stroll along the coast path

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path

Pembrokeshire has an incredible 186 miles of stunning coast path to explore, taking in all manner of hidden coves, cliff top views and beautiful hamlets. Starting at St Dogmaels in the north and stretching all the way to Amroth in the south, there’s rugged cliff tops and long, sandy beaches to explore.

If you’re already in Tenby, you can try the pretty stretch between the town and Saundersfoot. A short drive away is Marloes Peninsular - jutting out at the very western edge of Pembrokeshire. It reaches out towards Skomer Island, and it’s one of the coast path’s ‘must sees’.

Discover a castle

On the way back from the coast, build in an afternoon at one of the many medieval castles that dot the landscape - harking back to a time of heroes and villains that will fire the imagination.

Carew Castle Pembrokeshire

Do battle among the fortresses of Carew Castle, just down the road from Bluestone. The wonderfully preserved walls, turrets and fortifications have stood the test of time and are set against a beautiful tidal mill. There’s a busy summer activity programme to enjoy as well.

Make a splash at the Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon Bluestone

There’s always time to squeeze in a trip to our resort waterpark! Open until 9pm in the summer, the Blue Lagoon is a firm favourite and guests can visit as many times as they like free of charge. Lounge on the outdoor patio in the sunshine with a dip or two in the Bubble Pool or zoom down the network of heat-stopping flumes, ride the Lazy River and take on the wave machine.

Under 5s can enjoy the shallower areas including exclusive use of Nippers Cove - perfect for water babies growing their first pair of flippers.

Breakfast in the open air

Ramsey lodge exterior

If you're staying in one of our famous lodges you’ll find your own dedicated patio area with seating. Depending on where you’re located on resort you can breakfast beside the forest, lake or with glorious views of our 500 acres of ancient woodland with the Preseli Hills in the background.

Fly through the trees

Days spent exploring Bluestone’s sprawling countryside are filled with adventure - and there’s plenty to be had in the Steep Ravine.

Skywire

Here you’ll find challenging activities such as tree climbing, the High Ropes and Woodland Warriors. Be sure to try the Sky Wire, where you’ll fly through the tree canopy with stunning views along our thrilling zip wire - if you can keep your eyes open!

Conquer the Lake

In summer the serenity of our Lake comes alive with activities and wildlife. Try everything from paddle boarding to Welsh coracles and bring a picnic to immerse yourself by the peaceful waterside. Families with a competitive streak might take on the Raft Wars - build your own raft and race across the Lake, avoiding sabotage along the way!

Lake activities

Just beside the Lake is the Ranger HQ, home to the Bluestone Rangers. Younger adventurers can earn their Ranger badges while they build dens, explore and have fun with nature. Children will forget all about their devices for a day while they learn everything from survival skills to nature art while they count bugs rather than scores on a screen.

Dance the night away

Deep in the Steep Ravine bathing in the beauty of the forest is the legendary Camp Smokey, where you can end your summer day dining under dark skies filled with stars at the woodland outpost.

Camp Smokey

Come for the shindig in the evening and Smokey Joe will lead you into a night of foot stomping fun as you dance to his unique beat! It’s an experience filled with marshmallows over the campfire, delicious food and panning for gold.

Savour some me time

Massage at the Well Spa

While the children are off having the time of their lives there’s nothing wrong with scheduling in some time for you! Our Well Spa Retreat is there perfect place to spend a few hours in an oasis of tranquility, letting our treatments inspired by the coast take care of you. Our award-winning Thermal Suite and Hydrotherapy Pool are tailor-made for total relaxation and shrugging off the stresses of modern life.

Party at the festival

End your weekend break at our Sunday night festivals - depending on the time of year a different parade wends its way across the resort to the Village where there’s fun, games and dancing accompanied by live music and pop-up activities.

Bluestone Summer Festival

In Summer join the Green Man Parade as the sun goes down on another wonderful few days in perfect Pembrokeshire.
