Pupils from six Pembrokeshire secondary schools - Haverfordwest VC High School, Milford Haven, Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi, Greenhill, Ysgol y Preseli and Ysgol Bro Gwaun- recently attended a special event at Bluestone National Park Resort to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The event was led by Pamela McNamara, Commercial Director who said, “We’re delighted to welcome pupils from our local secondary schools to Bluestone for International Women’s Day for the second year. This year, the focus is on how some of the ladies at Bluestone have developed their career paths and the advice that they can offer.”

The International Women's Day 2019 campaign theme of #BalanceforBetter is a call-to-action for driving gender balance across the world. Bluestone is a great example of a balanced business with an equal split of male and females at board level, and 60% of their total 750 work force are female.

Mrs Alex Rees from Ysgol Greenhill in Tenby who attended the event said, “All of the ladies from our school had a really enjoyable day at Bluestone celebrating International Women’s Day. We found it very interesting and enjoyed the team building exercises too. We’ve all taken on board what was said on the day and are now putting it into practice in our daily lives.”

During the day, the pupils spent time with Liz Weedon, Head of Projects, Debbie Rainbow, Director of HR and People Services, Yvonne Buckingham, Head of Sales and Marketing and Melanie Sharrad-Hughes and Sarah Davies, Duty Managers in the Food and Beverage department. In these sessions they were given an insight into the departments and the range of career opportunities that are available at Bluestone.
