Bluestone HR Team Named Best in Wales

The HR team at Bluestone National Park Resort has received the highest accolade possible at the first Wales HR Awards.

The team scooped the ‘Best HR Team’ award at a 12-category black-tie event, run by Acorn Recruitment, at Cardiff’s SSE SWALEC Stadium.

Bluestone was among eight HR teams and 28 HR professionals to be recognised at the awards, which aim to celebrate the top HR teams and individuals from organisations of all sizes the length and breadth of Wales.

Lord Price, Minister of State at the Department for International Trade and former Managing Director of Waitrose was the guest speaker. Winners and guests were also entertained by Only Boys Aloud and Welsh National Opera’s Youth Opera.

Debbie Rainbow, Director of Human Resources and Health & Safety for Bluestone Wales, said: “We are delighted to have won this award, which is testament to the hard work of the whole team and demonstrates our commitment to putting our people at the heart of what we do.”

She added “Over the past decade Bluestone’s workforce has grown from 300 to 700 and, with future expansion set to increase staff numbers to over 1000, there is more need than ever to train and retain the right employees.

“Our people underpin the success of our business and since Bluestone was established, safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our workforce has been our top priority. My team has consistently worked hard to develop and launch a series of bespoke programmes and initiatives designed to empower, develop and look after our entire workforce and we are extremely proud of what we have achieved.

“It was fantastic to have these accomplishments realised, but we are not a business to rest on our laurels. We will continue to look at new ways to develop and nurture our existing staff while looking out for their welfare to ensure they have the work-life balance we all aspire to have.”

The Wales HR Awards have been created and delivered by Acorn, Wales’ specialist recruitment and training agency, and Cardiff-based commercial law firm Darwin Gray, who partner to deliver a series of HR seminars and events through the Wales HR Network.
