Bluestone partners with leading UK dance circus company Motionhouse

Bluestone National Park Resort has partnered with one of the UK’s leading dance circus companies, Motionhouse, for their new Starchitects stage production.

Motionhouse was co-founded by Kevin Finnan, Choreographer and Movement Director for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Finnan was made an MBE in 2013 for his services to dance – a sector he has been contributing to since he created Motionhouse with Louise Richards in 1988.

Motionhouse’s productions are designed to challenge as well as delight audiences, integrating elements of circus and acrobatics with contact choreography and breath-taking dance to create a distinctive style. Spectacles are created where music, visuals, dance, and powerful physicality work together to create shows that make audiences think and feel.

Bluestone and Motionhouse have partnered this winter lights season to explore the tale of the young Starchitects who dream of exploring the dark skies above. Along the way, they encounter sensory wonders and spectacular creatures of space.

Starchitects premiered in the resort’s Serendome Theatre at the beginning of the month and will be running until the end of March 2020.

Kevin Finnan, Artistic Director of Motionhouse said: “It has been a real joy to create Starchitects. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed bringing the story of the Starchitects to life – it’s really brought out the inner child in us all!”

In Starchitects, audiences will experience the dance-circus fusion and digital projections that Motionhouse is renowned for. The show is a visual spectacle, with an easy-to-follow fun, and imaginative storyline.

“Family audiences who come to see Starchitects will enjoy the fantastic adventure we’ve created for our group of Starchitects: the concept of the show captures the spirit of children’s games and the imagination of childhood. And…there’s a surprise visit from an out-of-this-world character you won’t want to miss!”

Liam Hewer, Bluestone’s Imagineer added: "We can't wait for our guests to join us on our Starchitects mission, it's been an exciting journey with Motionhouse creating this bespoke show. It reflects our Winter Lights trail through the woodlands where your imagination can wander freely, creating its own magical story. It's about showing children that their imagination can take them on some amazing adventures, and reminding adults what a magical time that is."

Starchitects is engaging for audiences of all ages – from tiny tots to older siblings, parents, and grandparents who can all enjoy and join our magical adventure to try and reach the moon.

Starchitects were commissioned by Bluestone National Park Resort.
