PRP Training Boosts Housekeepers Skills

Housekeeping staff at Bluestone National Park Resort near Narberth have achieved additional qualifications and skills through work-based learning provided by PRP Training.

Members of the luxury short break destination’s housekeeping team have achieved a City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles.

They have also improved skills through the Welsh Government’s Essential Skills in the Workplace Programme (ESiW), which develops skills in communication and application of numbers.

“It’s vitally important for all our staff to undertake continuous skills development and training,” said Melanie Thompson, Training and Development Manager at Bluestone.

“We place a great deal of emphasis and investment into this to ensure the standards our guests' expectations are exceeded and that our employees have the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities as well as providing opportunities for progression within the business.”

PRP Training delivered the qualifications, which are part-financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.

“Primarily focusing on housekeeping, the qualification recognises the competence and responsibilities within a housekeeping environment,” said Stuart Allen of PRP Training.

"Work-based qualifications enable individuals to fit learning around work, learning is based on the individual’s employment. It’s a great way to gain a nationally recognized qualification. We would like to congratulate the housekeeping team on their achievement.”

The training and qualification focused on key responsibilities, including maintaining a safe, hygienic, and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team,  cleaning and servicing a range of housekeeping areas.

PRP Training has supported over 100 staff at Bluestone in a range of qualifications, including customer service, catering, sales, and administration.
