Pembrokeshire Book Festival
Interactive Story Time
Taking place between October 30th and November 2nd 2013 with two top children's authors visiting Bluestone to entertain budding readers with extracts from their books.
Award-winning writer Gareth P Jones, best known for the Dragon Detective Agency series of books and Ninja Meerkats, and Jonny Duddle, an illustrator and author best known for The Pirates Next Door, for which he won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize in 2012, and The Pirate Cruncher, will be hosting two sessions.
Hearing first hand the inspiration for classic tales is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and the two authors providing the interactive story time offer an entertaining session for all the family, as well as taking questions from the audiences during talks and book signing. It's great fun to read - and educational.
Children love stories and the Interactive Story Time is a great way to keep children focussed on just how great books are. But books are more than just a way of providing entertainment for the young and old. Reading forms an important part of a child's formative years.
From learning facts, to being able to empathise; books are integral to growing up.
More importantly, reading to children has a long impact on their lives. The OECD has revealed that children who receive early support from their parents are more likely to be ahead with their reading.
It found that children who had parents involved in reading in the early years of schooling were more likely to develop reading skills that developed into their teenage years. It also found that greater involvement between parents and children also helped reading skills.
That's why it's important for families to bond, such as on holidays or short breaks, where they spend quality time together - making free range fun breaks an ideal time for families to spend quality time together.
Events will be taking place on site at The Pavilion here at Bluestone.
