The Bluestone Foundation

Building a Better Future, Together

In 2010 we set up the Bluestone Foundation with the goal of making a positive difference in Pembrokeshire. At the heart of what we do is the key idea of ‘helping people to help themselves’. The people of Pembrokeshire are creative, intuitive, hard-working and have a great deal of care toward their county and their neighbours. That’s why instead of simply giving funds, we endeavour to work alongside those doing good in our community, and support causes that are progressive, open, and go that extra mile. This network of Community Partners is how we’ll build a better future, together.  
 
The Bluestone Foundation is run in partnership with the Pembrokeshire Association for Voluntary Services (PAVS), and a Service Level Agreement is signed as part of this partnership. PAVS chair all Community Fund decision meetings, whilst the Foundation Steering Group, made up of staff members outside of senior management, review, discuss, and agree on successful bids submitted by local good causes. 

There are 3 arms to the Foundation:

• The Bluestone Community Fund 
• Blue Lagoon Community Events
• Bluestone Foundation unrestricted funds 

The Bluestone Community Fund 

This fund includes all the donations made by guests which are matched by Bluestone and also draws on fund raising done by the business and its staff.  
 
There are two main focusses for distribution: 
 
Social: Focussing on deprivation and poverty, with an emphasis on youth wellbeing.  
 
Environment: Focussing on climate action and biodiversity. 
 
The Community Fund is administered in partnership with the Pembrokeshire Association for Voluntary Services (PAVS). 

Blue Lagoon Community Events.

 
We open the Blue Lagoon Water Park to the local community for events* and paid sessions, where all costs are covered by Bluestone. 100% off all funds raised are funnelled back into good causes in the local community. This is 75/25 split with 75% going to the community partner organiser of the event, and 25% to the Bluestone Foundation.  

The Community events are administered in partnership with the Pembrokeshire Association for Voluntary Services (PAVS).  

*Charities, non-profit and other constituted groups in Pembrokeshire interested in participating in future events can apply to become the host and recipient of funds by contacting PAVS.

Bluestone Foundation unrestricted funds 

These are special projects paid for by unrestricted funds at Bluestone.  

The unrestricted funds are administered in partnership with the Pembrokeshire Association for Voluntary Services (PAVS).
