More staycation options as bookings open for new platinum lodges at Bluestone National Park Resort

Bookings are now open for 80 new sustainable lodges at Bluestone National Park Resort
in Wales.
The new ‘Platinum’ lodges are part of a £23 million expansion development at the
Pembrokeshire-based resort and are scheduled to open for guests to stay in from
August 2023.
The new lodges will provide more staycation options for people looking to holiday in the
UK who may have been deterred by the air and ferry travel chaos over the summer.
Bluestone was recently named one of the top best value holiday resorts in the UK by
Which?, the independent consumer organisation, which ranked Bluestone fourth out of
19 UK resorts. It was also named as one of just four Which? Recommended Providers on
the list – a top accolade.
Located within 500 acres in the heart of Pembrokeshire with more than 50 beaches less
than an hour’s drive away, activities at Bluestone range from kayaking, paddle boarding
and a subtropical indoor water park. Bluestone also organises ‘off resort’ activities
including coasteering and exploring the wild waters of Pembrokeshire with unique, up close
wildlife experiences above and below the waves of west Wales.

Offering some of the most luxurious facilities to date at Bluestone, the new lodges will
be equipped with Sigma 3 Masterclass Kitchens, electric AGA fires and ESPA toiletries in
the bathrooms.
With the use of an electric golf buggy included free of charge, the ‘Platinum’ lodges will
be in a completely car-free area of the wider resort, with transport exclusively by foot,
bicycle or buggy, except for service vehicles and Blue Badge holders, which will operate
on a one-way system.
The lodges will have their own private entrance road and car parking, as well as virtual
check in facilities with a dedicated customer service in the new Welcome Hub.
Sustainable Design
Timber and other sustainable materials have been used in the design and construction
of the lodges in addition to other materials and will be heated by air-source heat pumps.
All of the timber used is certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest
Certification (PEFC) – the world’s largest forest certification organisation - with a full
chain of custody.
The architecture is based on biophilic design principles to increase connectivity to
nature, including the use of large windows and bi-fold doors to increase natural light,
the use of large, open spaces for optimum air flow and ventilation, enhanced planting
and landscaping schemes in the grounds and communal spaces and the use of natural
materials and organic colour schemes.

The Lodges
There will be three lodge types in the new Platinum range – Carningli, St. Govan and
Solva.
The four-bedroom Carningli Lodges will boast two en suite bathrooms, one family
bathroom, an open-plan living area, cwtch (meaning ‘hug’) kids area and a sunroom.
The three-bedroom St. Govan Lodges will offer an en suite bathroom, a family bathroom,
open-plan living area, sunroom and a cwtch kids area, while the two-bedroom Solva
Lodges will have one bathroom, an open-plan living area and a patio area.
The interior finishes will include Sigma 3 Masterclass bespoke kitchens – made in its
Cardiff factory – with luxury NEFF appliances, electric AGA fireplaces and ESPA toiletries
in the bathrooms.
The master bedrooms will have a 43” Smart TVs and occasional chairs, while all living
areas will feature a wall-mounted 43” Smart TV. The Carningli and St. Govan lodges will
also have a multi-purpose cwtch room, designed for work or play, equipped with
comfortable seating, 43” Smart TV, and bookcase desk.
The Carningli and St. Govan lodges will have upstairs Juliet balconies which can be used
year-round and in all weathers thanks to the vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling bi-fold
doors.
The single-storey Solva lodges will have a covered private patio area. Four of the 15
Solva lodges will be adapted for guests with access and mobility issues.
Lithium-powered, fast charging golf buggies are included in the accommodation rate,
with two four seater buggies for the Carningli lodges, one four-seater buggy for a Solva
lodge and a six-seater buggy for a St. Govan lodge.
The lodges will join the 344 existing lodges, cottages and studio apartments at
Bluestone, set across 500 acres of rolling Pembrokeshire countryside.
Welshpool-based SJ Roberts Construction are the main contractors during the project,
while the timber frames will be manufactured by sister company Lowfield Timber
Frames with the remainder of the supply chain being carefully selected to ensure a
quality build is guaranteed, while aiming to use as many local suppliers as possible.
Guests will be among the first to book the new Platinum lodges in August in readiness of
their official opening in the summer of 2023.
