Enjoy Summer BBQs at Bluestone

We have exciting news. We know how much a barbecue can enhance your outdoor experience, so we're pleased to announce that you can now enjoy certain types of BBQs during your stay at the outdoor eating areas close to your lodge.

To ensure the safety of our guests and the natural environment, we have a special requirement.

They MUST be either lumpwood charcoal BBQs with legs/stand or disposable BBQ’s that are made up of natural/biodegradable materials and use no fossil fuels, such as those available to purchase from Newton Stores.

Why these disposable BBQ’s?

Less Smoke, more enjoyment. These barbecues produce less smoke, leading to a more pleasant experience for you and your neighbours. They are also better for the environment as they are designed with sustainability in mind, minimising their impact on our beautiful surroundings.

You can find the permitted disposable barbecues at our village retail store. Our staff will be happy to assist you and we look forward to welcoming you to Bluestone for a memorable summer holiday.

Barbecue Safety

Please exercise extreme caution if you are using a barbecue during your stay.

  • Either lumpwood charcoal BBQs with legs/stand or disposable BBQ’s that are made up of natural/biodegradable materials and use no fossil fuels, such as those available to purchase from Newton Stores.
  • Gas barbecues are not permitted.
  • Barbecues must be placed on a stand that's a minimum distance of 2 metres from the lodge building.
  • Disposable barbecues must be placed directly on hard ground and not on grass or wooden furniture.
  • Only proprietary lighting products may be used.
  • Please ensure that the barbecue is attended at all times and take particular care when children are about.
  • Steel bins are located outside the recycling compounds, please make sure embers are extinguished and allowed to go completely cold before disposal.
  • Do not put hot embers into your accommodation bins.

We may ask all guests to refrain from using barbecues during extreme high weather temperatures.

In Lodge Recycling Scheme

At Bluestone, we take sustainability - and protecting and supporting our environment - very seriously. Free Range Future is our sustainability movement

Free Range Future is our way of not doing anything today which our children will have to pay for tomorrow.
Already less than 1% of the park’s waste goes to landfill, and we are committed to taking this even further. So we are now focusing on our recycling rate and have recently launched food recycling in our lodges. This builds on work we did last year to recycle food from our outlets to Anaerobic Digestion.
In your studio, cottage, or lodge you will find a brown bag clearly labelled for food waste. The bags can be disposed of in a similarly labelled bin in the waste compound. Should you need any more bags, you can call Housekeeping on 01834 862141 or visit your Guest Service Team.
This initiative will complete our move to recycle all food waste from the resort and we really appreciate your support –thank you for helping us ensure a Free Range Future.

Blu-Ray Players

Blu-Ray Players can be requested from The Booking Office (in the Village). They come in a Bluestone Bag with remote, lead and clear instructions.

A £10.00 deposit is taken, which is refunded on the return of the players at the end of your stay.
