Learning and Development

We are always looking at ways to improve and so are our staff. As part of your employment at Bluestone you will receive on-the-job training and have opportunities for development. Here are some of the things that we do:

Be Part of It

We like training to be fun and hands-on, so this training programme uses experiential learning with a range of learning topics including teamwork, communication, working all as one team across all departments, engagement and more!

There are five different training sessions as part of the programme and you will gain a certificate once you have completed all five! 

Every Person Counts Leadership Programme

This allows staff to gain leadership skills, giving them the knowledge needed to develop in their role. A group of people each year are nominated and chosen to be part of the programme. There have already been a few success stories, with members of staff being successful in developing into leadership roles.

Management Development Programme

At Bluestone, we also invest in our managers and make sure that they have the necessary skills and competencies needed to be a great manager. We are currently introducing a training programme for our Heads of Department which will include topics such as coaching and directing, emotional intelligence and leadership mindset.

Compliance Training

In recent years, Bluestone has increased the amount of internal training that we offer, using a pool of internal trainers. We now provide First Aid at Work as an internal course as well as other compliance courses such as Fire Marshal training and lifeguard training, and from next year IOSH training will be provided internally.

Qualifications

At Bluestone, we work with a range of providers to allow employees to complete work-based qualifications. Subject areas include Sales, Customer Service, IT, Business Admin, Housekeeping, Childcare and more! Other qualifications that employees have completed externally include Level 3 Education and Training, NEBOSH General Certificate and several maintenance courses. 

Bluestone Apprenticeship Programme

Bluestone has taken on several chef apprentices in collaboration with Coleg Sir Gar, with several students working within our kitchens and then attending college one day a week. There are plans to expand this by offering apprenticeships within a wide variety of departments across Bluestone.

Online Training

Bluestone has invested in an online training and development system.

This allows employees to complete training using a computer, laptop, tablet and even their mobile phones! Features include a variety of training modules, online appraisals, career development planning and a news and noticeboard feature.

Commute through beautiful countryside, have the pick of the beaches for a morning surf, or to watch the sunset, and spend your weekend exploring the coast and enjoying the great outdoors.

We can't deny the quality of life in Pembrokeshire is pretty great and with the freedom of the National Park and world class beaches on your doorstep it's a special place and community to be part of.
