Geraint Thomas Cycling Weekend Success

Olympic cycling gold medallist Geraint Thomas notched up another success over the weekend with more than 40 riders joining him for a cycling camp in Pembrokeshire.

The Welsh cyclist, who successfully competed in this year’s Tour de France with Team Sky and was back in Wales last month during the Tour of Britain, led the camp at Bluestone National Park Resort near Narberth.

"It's been great to be back in Wales tackling some of the best routes and hills that Pembrokeshire has to offer after a manic season," said Geraint. "The base at Bluestone was fantastic and gave me a chance to work with some great amateur cyclists on technique and advice."

Geraint led the cycle camp members on routes varying 48kms to over 68kms throughout the Pembrokeshire countryside, as well as providing individual advice, question and answer sessions, and social events. One guest even flew in from as far as New York to take part.

“It’s been a great success and I look forward to returning again,” added Geraint.

Yvonne Buckingham, Head of Marketing at Bluestone National Park Resort, said the partnership between Geraint and Bluestone was a great way for budding road cyclists to work with an international cycling sportsman.

“It’s not every day you get the chance to learn from an Olympic cycling gold medalist. Geraint was a great host, with cycling camp guests really learning from and enjoying Geraint’s company throughout.”
