Women in Wales Lunch celebrates 25 years of Fundraising

Her Royal Highness Princess Royal is the guest of honour at the Women in Wales Lunch Reception in the SSE SWALEC Stadium to mark a quarter of a century of the Women in Wales Charity raising money for Save the Children.

This year’s guest speaker with close royal connections is entrepreneur, Cath Kidston MBE. The Queen of florals is being interviewed by Sue Brooks, Desert Island Discs about how her talent and to drive transformed roses into riches.

Rachel Thomas, Chair of Women in Wales said: “We are extremely honoured to have Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, President of Save the Children UK join us for this special occasion which is a sell-out this year with 500 guests and we hope to raise a record amount for children who are living in poverty in Wales.”

During a three-course lunch, guests will be entertained by string quartet Aderyn, the Gershwin Gang, and a Fashion sequence showcasing four shops, Loulou Boutique, Solo, Ededa J and Boutique 53.

The auction is a regular highlight of the Lunch and this year guests will be bidding for a variety of items such as Caribbean holidays, five-star hotel breaks, Fashion and Beauty experiences, a Stereophonics signed guitar,  Andy Murray presentation frame including a signed racquet, and much more.

The Women in Wales charity supporting Save the Children will be joined by their patron, The Hon Dame Shan Legge Bourke DCVO and Ambassadors Sian Lloyd BBC Correspondent, Denise Rich Commercial Director Media Wales, Jenny Ogwen Williams former TV Presenter and Women in Wales committee member, Andrea Byrne ITV News anchor and Alison Tod Couture Milliner.

Proceeds from the 2017 Lunch go towards the Eat, Sleep, Learn, Play programme in Wales. A short video will highlight some of the problems faced by 20% of families living below the poverty line – having no heating in the home, no hot food, and shockingly, no money to put shoes on their children’s feet. It is incredible that this is still the case today in Wales.

Headline sponsors Commercial Director at Bluestone National Park Resort, Pamela McNamara said:  “It’s a great pleasure to be a part of such a prestigious women’s event - raising money for a cause which helps disadvantaged children.”
